So, you want to know who you're doing business with?...
Here's my background information to learn a little more about who I am, where I'm from, what I've done and how I work!
I work with a lot of heart for the good of the whole: I have big city savvy and a small town heart in my approach to business, so whether you need help planning an elegant client event in an exclusive venue, require logistics to move 5,000 convention-goers or media exposure & sponsors to market your event, I'm the "go-to" person for experience, connections and resourceful creativity.
Education: Holding a BFA in Advertising and a Masters in Marketing from SMU in Dallas, Texas, I completed my studies in 1993 and, having grown up in Dallas as part of an entrepreneurial family, I was introduced to the Dallas business community at an early age.
Professional Background: From my professional experiences at Passbook Clubs, Five Star Limousines and DMM Group, I've had the pleasure to serve an enviable roster of clientele through my work with Fortune 500 Companies, CEO's and Non-Profit Organizations.
In 1995, I shifted my interests from Passbook Clubs to Five Star Limousines. My first day there, I joined MPI and the DCVB and that was my entry into meetings and events! I became well-known in both corporate and social circles as a specialist who understood and delivered on the principals of "no is not an option" through my dedication to personal service and attention to detail. I became an expert at working closely with corporate clients, CEO's, VIP's, speakers, celebrities, politicians and visiting dignitaries from all over the world. (So much fun and I learned a lot about what makes programs and events successful!)
I opened DMM Group in 2001; this was a natural evolution that enabled me to provide full-service Conference Management , specialty DMC services and Event Marketing services. I enjoy the freedom of operating a boutique firm; it affords me the time to focus on projects that interest me and high-profile projects that require a very "high-touch" approach.
Work Approach: I am reputable for being creative, resourceful, well-connected and gracious as a strategic planner and marketing expert serving the best interests of my clients...and my "client's clients"! (Which works out great, since I refer to myself as a "planner's planner")
Embracing the role that information technology plays in creating excitement and driving attendance at Meetings and Events, I am passionate about providing full-service Communication services that includes website development, strategic marketing/communication campaigns and online registration/housing capabilities to help clients manage their attendance and revenue goals for Seminars, Meetings, Events, Conventions, Expos and Symposiums.
Industry Involvement: While living in Dallas, I served 5 consecutive years on the Board of Directors for the MPI DFW Chapter and, before moving to the East Coast in early 2008, I was also an active member for The Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, International Special Events Society and Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
Since moving to New York City, I've immersed myself into the MPI Greater New York Chapter and happy to report that, working alongside fantastic colleagues, I was able to make a difference in the chapter by offering strategic marketing expertise to guide the chapter in promoting its chapter programming to a membership of more than 1,000 industry professionals in the tri-state area.
In June 2009, I was honored by the MPIGNY Chapter and named "Chapter Manager of the Year" for my efforts in the chapter. In 2009, I took office as Vice President of Communications for MPIGNY and received the prestigious Planner of the Year Award from MPIGNY in June 2010...and I was deeply honored by the MPI D/FW Chapter in June 2010 upon receiving the President's Award!
The Collaborative Spirit: One thing I've learned during my years in business is the importance of collaboration. I believe each client deserves to have the best talent sitting at the table to come up with clever ideas and strategize how best to compose and deliver those ideas for the end client's benefit.
Today, I am very, very excited to be in a position to serve clients visiting the most exciting city in the world! Granted, it took a year of working diligently in NYC to build a new circle of colleagues.
My greeting has changed from "hi, ya'll" to "how you doin'?"
I look forward to working with many in-bound companies and associations to ensure their NYC experience is friendly, exciting, memorable and well-executed!
